Physical Test, Physical Efficiency Test,PET, PMT

Physical Efficiency Test, PET

Once qualify the Computer-based Test conducted by RRC, then called for Physical Efficiency Test for Level-1 posts. Passing Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is mandatory and it will be qualifying in nature. Twice the number of community-wise vacancies will be called for the Physical Efficiency Test. 


Male Candidates 

He should be able to lift and carry 35 kg of weight for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down.

He should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 4 minutes and 15 seconds in one chance. 

1000 meter-4 minutes 15 sec


Transgender Candidates

Standards equivalent to Female Candidates (RBE 156/2022 dtd 18.11.2022)

Transgender should be able to lift and carry 20 kg of weight for a distance of 100 metres in 2 minutes in one chance without putting the weight down. 

20 kg-100 meter-2 minutes

Transgender should be able to run for a distance of 1000 metres in 5 minutes and 40 seconds in one chance

1000 meter-5 minutes 40 sec

RPF Physical Test

  • RPF Physical Test comprises three parts, the RPF Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Measurement Test (PMT).
  • Once you clear the computer-based test, you will be called for PET and PMT. The number of candidates appearing for the physical efficiency test is usually ten times more than the number of vacancies.

RPF Physical Efficiency Test for Constables & Sub-Inspectors

The RPF selection process for Constable and SI is done over three stages, like Computer Based Test (CBT), RPF Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Measurement Test (PMT), and Document Verification (DV). The candidate has to clear every stage to be eligible for the next one and then eventually clear the entire selection process to avail of the vacancy by RPF.

Below mentioned are the stages of RPF Selection Process

  1. Computer Based Test (CBT)
  2. Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
  3. Document Verification (DV)

RPF Physical Efficiency Test 

  • Only one chance will be given for the 1600/800 meters event. For Long Jump and High jump, the candidates will be given 2 chances each.
  • Ex-servicemen will be given an exemption from PET, However, they will have to undergo PMT.
  • A Candidate must qualify in all Tests to be eligible for consideration.
  • Candidates who qualify the 1600 meters/800 meters will be measured for eligibility with respect to height and chest.
  • Chest measurements will be taken of male candidates only. Women are exempted from chest measurement criteria. If a male candidate’s unexpanded chest measurement is below the required limit, the expanded measurement shall not be taken and he shall be disqualified from the RPF Recruitment process.
  • Male candidates who do not have the minimum required height will not be called for measurement of the chest and they will also get disqualified from the recruitment process.
  • A candidate who does not have a minimum height, chest (unexpanded/expanded) shall be treated as having failed in PMT.
  • PET/PMT is qualifying in nature. No marks will be given for appearing in PET/PMT.
  • A grievance redressal cell shall be set up for redressal of issues related to Height and Chest measurements. Details for the same will be updated on the official website.

Medical Standards for the Posts

Candidates called for DV will have to pass a requisite medical fitness test(s) conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to carry out the duties connected with the post(s) opted by them. Visual Acuity Standard is one of the important criteria of the medical fitness of railway staff. The medical requirements against different medical standards for different categories are outlined below:

B-2

Physically fit in all respects

Distant Vision: 6/9, 6/12 with or without glasses (power of lenses not to exceed 4D).

Near Vision: Sn. 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required and must pass test for Binocular Vision etc.

C-1

Physically fit in all respects

Distant Vision: 6/12, 6/18 with or without glasses.

Near Vision: Sn. 0.6, 0.6 with or without glasses when reading or close work is required.


In connection with Direct recruitment from open market in Level-1, consideration the following statement. 

(A) The number of candidates to be called for Document Verification shall be 1:1 times the number of notified vacancies. 
(RBE 91/2021)

(B) Candidates need to be informed only around two weeks prior to the date of commencement of PET, due to electronics means of communication in vogue.  


Honorarium for functionaries involved in conducting Document Verification (DV) for Level-1 recruitment in RRCs.  (RBE 48/2019)

The number of candidates to be called for PET should now be 03 (three) times the number notified vacancies. (RBE 102/2018).

Level-1: The panel will now be formed to the extent of the notified vacancies with a standby panel of 50% of the notified vacancies. In case the main panel plus standby is also exhausted and is still there is a shortfall vis-à-vis notified vacancies, the recruiting agency may further go down in the list of candidates which meet the requirement of minimum qualifying marks in their respective community for conducting PET (if needed) and DV/ME to the extent of shortfall community wise. This may be done till the demand from the concerned Railway administration w.r.t. indent places and vacancies notified is fully met. These provisions shall be subject to currency of the panel.
